Donald Trump launches his controversial Gaza Board of Peace, claiming it will deliver "lasting peace". Critics warn it could bypass the U.N. and concentrate power in a Trump-led, U.S.-dominated structure. Top officials, Tony Blair, and a $1 billion price for permanent membership raise global concerns. Invitations sent to world leaders show mixed reactions, from enthusiastic acceptance to cautious skepticism. Is this a genuine peace plan--or a strategic move to reshape global power?

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been invited to join US President Donald Trump's "Board of Peace" aimed at resolving conflicts globally and oversee governance and reconstruction in Gaza, the Kremlin said Monday. "President Putin also received an invitation to join this Board of Peace," spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists, including AFP. Russia was seeking to "clarify all the nuances" of the offer with Washington, he said, without adding if the Kremlin chief as inclined to join.

Moscow said it hoped to engage with Washington for further clarification on the proposal. According to the draft charter, the board would be chaired for life by Trump and would initially focus on the Gaza conflict before expanding its mandate to address other global conflicts. Invitations have been sent to around 60 countries, including India.

Trump's initiative seeks to bring together a cohort of countries to work on peace-building efforts under a charter that emphasises promoting stable governance and long-term peace in conflict-affected regions. Countries that commit $1 billion would secure permanent seats on the board, while those that do not pay could still join for a three-year term. proponents say the funds would be used to rebuild war-torn areas like Gaza and avoid "bureaucratic bloat" seen in other international institutions.
