The Presidents' Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration - a not-for-profit in the education sphere, along with 91 higher education institutions and associations, filed an amicus brief yesterday in a US appeals court urging it to uphold protections for non-citizen students and faculty. The brief asks the court to protect them from immigration action over constitutionally protected speech.

Washington has begun a major restoration project aimed at returning 270 acres in the South Fork Skagit River estuary to natural intertidal and marsh habitat. According to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), construction on the Island Unit Restoration Project began in June 2026 and is expected to continue through fall 2028.
