A new purple cooling fabric developed by Chinese and Australian researchers could offer a way to stay cooler in intense summer heat without relying on traditional white clothing. The study published in the journal 'Small,' describes that the material is designed to reflect sunlight while allowing heat to escape from the fabric.

Scientists from IISc and TCG-CREST's Centre for High Impact Neuroscience and Translational Applications (CHINTA), Kolkata, have found a pathway in the brain that appears to turn an otherwise harmless drop in temperature into a painful experience after chemotherapy.

Scientists have long struggled to reliably detect nerve agents used in chemical warfare, not just because they are highly toxic, but because many sensors produce the same yellow colour as the chemicals they are trying to identify, making the signal easy to miss or misread.
