NEW DELHI: The Calcutta high court, in an order dated July 30, held that the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act cannot be used to evict tenants. The court said disputes between landlords and tenants must be decided by a civil court under tenancy laws and that a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) has no power to order the eviction of a tenant under the Senior Citizens Act. |
