NEW DELHI: Dismissing as fake a viral video claiming the June 21 NEET-UG retest question paper had been leaked on the Telegram application, the Centre and National Testing Agency (NTA) Monday initiated action to trace those who created and circulated it.

The NEET re-test gave the examination system a second chance after the paper leak controversy. But for some students, reaching minutes late because of rain, traffic, accidents or document confusion meant there was no second chance at all.

Congress president B.K. Hariprasad expressed regret over students facing traffic issues reaching NEET exam centres due to a party rally, while strongly criticizing the BJP over repeated question paper leaks. He questioned the BJP's actions for students and highlighted the Prime Minister's and Education Minister's lack of accountability. Hariprasad asserted that Congress made arrangements to minimize disruption and offered compensation if needed.

More than 20 lakh candidates appeared for the NEET-UG 2026 retest on June 21 across 5,440 exam centres in India and 14 centres abroad. The exam was conducted in 13 languages with unprecedented security measures in place.
