NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rain across several parts of the country on Thursday, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over parts of east and northeast India.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a temporary easing of monsoon activity across parts of the Western Ghats over the next few days, even as eastern and northeastern India prepare for another spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Goa and the Konkan coast, which are usually drenched during mid-July, are expected to receive only isolated to scattered showers until July 16, with widespread rainfall likely to return from July 17.

Several parts in the state including Puri have already started witnessing heavy downpours. The IMD has warned of localised flooding, waterlogging in low-lying areas, and disruption of traffic in major cities.

According to IMD, isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Delhi and NCR between July 14 and July 18. Check IMD forecast for Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad.

According to the Meteorological Department, the previous highest July temperature in Bengaluru was 33.3 degree Celsius, recorded in 1914 and again in 1926.
