The India Meteorological Department said monsoon's onset over Kerala is expected to happen in the next seven days. It further said the June-September southwest monsoon seasonal rainfall over India is expected to be 90 per cent of the long-period average with a model error of 4 per cent.

The IMD puts out rainfall forecast for the June-September monsoon season in the middle of April every year, and then updates it towards the end of May.

Nagpur: Amid fears of El Nino and ongoing heatwave, water level in large dams of Nagpur and Amravati divisions, which represent East and West Vidarbha, were 41.27% and 41.35% on May 29. This is 10% higher compared to the same period last year in Nagpur, while in Amravati dams are holding 4% more water than last year, shows the data compiled by the state's water resources department (WRD).
