The West Bengal Assembly Election results were declared on Monday. Soon after, reports and footage of violent clashes in the state emerged. On Tuesday, the TMC alleged that "BJP cadres hacked to death one of its workers in Birbhum's Nanoor".

Tamil Nadu Election Results: Thalapathy Vijay's TVK had defeated the ruling MK Stalin-led DMK in the Assembly election. Now, after the Tamil Nadu election results were declared on May 4, Vijay's party fell short 10 seats short of the Majority mark. The Congress, which was in alliance with the DMK during the polls, switched and supported Vijay's TVK, but still was short of seats to form the government. Now Vijay has successfully achieved the support of other DMK partners like the VCK and the left parties.

Referring to the election outcome, Stalin said, "The assembly election results had turned out in a manner where no party secured the majority needed to form a government."

Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which won 108 seats in its maiden Tamil Nadu Assembly election held on April 23, was initially 10 seats short of the majority mark. Following the results, the party reached out to DMK allies including CPI, CPI(M), IUML and VCK seeking support to form the govt.

Political maneuvering intensifies in Tamil Nadu after the Assembly election results. DMK leaders TKS Elangovan and P Wilson have voiced concerns over alleged "horse trading" attempts. This follows a dispute over a letter of support for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay. TVK claims support from an AMMK MLA, while AMMK denies it.

The Jamaat-e-Islami saw a surge in Bangladesh in the February election, particularly along the border with West Bengal. The rise of the Islamist party seems to have resulted in voter consolidation for the BJP across the border. The West Bengal Assembly election results show that the BJP won several seats in pockets directly adjacent to the seats won by the Jamaat.

Despite five days since the election results were announced and the party's euphoric victory in securing 108 seats, the TVK members' excitement continues to rise as they await the major announcement today

Since the election results on May 4 threw up a hung House, it's been a rollercoster ride for TVK, which is still one short of majority as we go to pre.

P. Chidambaram said Congress and the wider political establishment had underestimated Vijay and TVK before the Tamil Nadu verdict. He said Congress backed TVK after the results to avoid another election and President's Rule.
