JAIPUR/NEW DELHI/PUNE: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five suspects and detained four others across states in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, uncovering what investigators say was a multi-state distribution chain that began with a hard copy of the question paper procured in Pune and circulated through couriers, WhatsApp groups and coaching networks in Rajasthan, Haryana and Maharashtra.

A whistleblower alerted the NTA about the question paper leak, which led to the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exam. The exam for medical aspirants was held across India on May 3. At 1.30 am on May 4, the whistleblower went to a police station in Sikar with the guess papers as evidence, but left abruptly. This is what happened.
