NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued an orange alert for Delhi, forecasting moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms through the day after heavy showers drenched several parts of the national capital in the morning.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast another spell of intense monsoon activity across large parts of the country, issuing warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall over several states on Wednesday. The weather agency has cautioned that widespread rain, thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds and localized flooding are likely to affect multiple regions over the coming days as active monsoon conditions continue.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on Tuesday, Ayanagar again recorded the highest rainfall at 49.3 mm, followed by Safdarjung at 9.4 mm, Palam at 8.1 mm, Lodhi Road at 3.7 mm and the Ridge at 1.5 mm.

There is a possibility of light rain and thunderstorm in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Latur and Dharashiv districts of this division.
