NEW DELHI: The Rapid Action Force (RAF) has begun an internal verification of the conduct of its personnel during the July 20 student protests in Delhi, amid allegations of excessive use of force and the use of pellet guns to disperse demonstrators, officials told news agency PTI on Friday.

The Bhakti movement between the seventh and 17th centuries challenged medieval social hierarchies, frequently targeting caste discrimination and ritualistic Brahmanical dominance.

Officials told PTI that the RAF is equipped with the 12-bore pump-action gun, commonly referred to as a pellet gun, as part of its riot-control arsenal.
