Kerala's northern districts face a yellow alert for heavy rainfall this weekend, according to the India Meteorological Department.

"Forecasts from the Monsoon Mission Coupled Forecast System (MMCFS) indicate a further strengthening of El Nino conditions during the southwest monsoon season," the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Southwest monsoon advances across eastern India while IMD warns of persistent heatwave conditions in Vidarbha, Telangana and parts of Rajasthan.

IMD's Anupam Kashyapi said the minimum temperature in Pune is likely to remain high due to the partly cloudy skies and high moisture during the day.

Delhi weather today remains cloudy with IMD forecasting light rain, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds across the national capital and NCR.

Thunderstorms are set to intensify across Delhi-NCR from Friday as a weather system strengthens. The IMD has issued a red alert, warning of rain, lightning, and winds up to 90 kmph.
