AHMEDABAD: Heavy rain continued to batter Gujarat for the third consecutive day on Friday, forcing over 38,600 people to move to safer places, while more than 352 people were rescued.

While no single event can be blamed solely on the PDO, experts say its interaction with the ongoing monsoon and other ocean-atmosphere patterns can influence rainfall distribution across several parts of the world, including India.

The Western Railway said that the rail track from Ahmedabad to Mumbai had been cleared to resume services with restricted speed later in the day.
