Responding to questions over why Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to speak in the House, Rijiju said the Congress leader's conduct does not reflect the seriousness expected from a Leader of Opposition. The minister also referenced Rahul Gandhi's 2018 "wink and hug" episode in Parliament, using it to question his behaviour during proceedings.

Congress MP asserted that Opposition compelled to pursue the extraordinary step not out of personal enmity but to uphold the decorum and dignity of Parliament.
