The southwest monsoon has advanced into Maharashtra on schedule after making its onset over Kerala on June 4, raising expectations that it could reach Delhi close to its normal arrival date later this month. The monsoon arrived in Kerala three days later than its usual onset date of June 1 and nearly a week behind the India Meteorological Department's earlier forecast. However, it has since gathered pace, rapidly covering large parts of the western coast, including Goa, before entering Maharashtra. According to the IMD's latest monsoon progression map, the southwest monsoon is likely to reach Delhi and the National Capital Region between June 25 and June 30. |
