Mumbai: The Indian National Congress (Maharashtra), state unit of CPI and others have filed a petition before the Bombay High Court to challenge the legality and constitutional validity of the Maharashtra Special Public Security Act, 2025, which seeks to tackle 'naxalism menace'. The petition, filed on Thursday, challenges the law on the ground that it infringes on the fundamental guarantees enshrined in the Constitution of India, including the principles of reasonableness and proportionality, the freedoms of speech and expression, assembly, and association guaranteed under Articles 19(1)(a), 19(1)(b), and 19(1)(c).
