The Centre has informed the Supreme Court that it has constituted a high-powered committee headed by the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) to carry out a comprehensive review of the existing admission mechanism for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG).

As per the MCC schedule, the first round of counselling for AIQ seats will be held from August 5 to 17, with the last date for joining set for August 22. Apply for NEET UG counselling at mcc.nic.in.

The development came during the hearing of a petition challenging the government's decision to drastically reduce the NEET-PG 2025 qualifying percentile.

The petitioners have challenged the January 13 notice issued by the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), by which the minimum qualifying percentile cut-off for counselling of the third round of NEET-PG 2025-2026 was reduced.
