Sarma had earlier announced that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into alleged links involving Gaurav Gogoi and his wife with Pakistan-based individuals would be transferred to a central agency.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed findings of a special investigation team. The team alleges Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and his wife, Elizabeth Colburn, violated the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act. The CM also pointed to a connection with a Pakistani national. A national probe has been recommended.

Reacting to the Chief Minister's press meet on Saturday, Gogoi said the event failed to convince journalists despite lasting nearly two and a half hours.
