Five suspects were arrested in the racially-charged murder of Anjel Chakma, a 24-year-old final-year MBA student from Tripura, in Dehradun on December 9.

Anjel and his younger brother Michael were stopped by a group of men who allegedly hurled racial slurs at them. Witnesses said the men referred to the brothers as "Chinese".

The arrested person was identified as Prashanta Chakraborty, a resident of the same village as the woman.

Reports said the group was in an inebriated condition when they attacked the two brothers. Two of the accused are said to juveniles.

Anjel and his brother Michael, who had been studying in the city for over a year, were stopped and mocked by a group of men who allegedly used derogatory language against them.
