NEW DELHI: A Chhattisgarh district consumer commission, in an order dated July 28, held IndiGo Airlines liable for deficiency in service after a passenger's checked-in bag went missing during a flight from Bengaluru to Raipur. Holding that the airline was responsible for safely returning the passenger's baggage after removing a prohibited item, the commission directed it to pay Rs 50,000 as compensation, Rs 15,000 for mental agony and Rs 5,000 towards litigation costs.

The reported dope-test result follows as aviation authorities probe the August 4 turbulence incident, in which an Airbus A320 with 145 people on board experienced a sudden loss of approximately 300 feet in altitude, leaving passengers and crew members injured.

AAIB will investigate the Air India Phuket-Delhi flight's altitude loss, which the Civil Aviation Ministry described as a serious incident. Both crew members have been removed from duty pending test results, with further action depending on the pilot's confirmatory test.

According to the Civil Aviation Ministry on August 9, multiple passengers and crew members were injured. The aircraft was carrying 137 passengers, three of them infants, and eight crew.

His screening test done on arrival was "non negative" and then as per procedure, a confirmatory test was conducted whose report came Tuesday.
