Delhi experienced its coldest night of the season on Saturday as the minimum temperature dropped to 11degC, 3.3 degrees below normal, marking a clear onset of winter in the capital. Air quality in Delhi deteriorated further on Saturday, with pollution levels breaching the 400 mark in several areas and placing the city among the most polluted in the country. The 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 361, categorised as "very poor," while stations in Alipur, ITO, Nehru Nagar, Vivek Vihar, Wazirpur, and Burari recorded "severe" levels above 400, according to Central Pollution Control Board data.

Experts warn this misleads policymakers and the public, delaying effective pollution control measures.
